After a scoreless first period Charlotte opened the scoring at six minutes and 25 seconds of the second period. The puck broke loose from a scrum at the far boards and landed landed at the stick of left wing Drayson Bowman in the slot and he flipped a backhand past Wolves goaltender Matt Climie. (assists to Bellemore and Sanguinetti).

Chicago then tied the score at one at 16 minutes and 58 seconds when defenseman Brad Hunt's shot was kicked away by Charlotte goalie Justin Peters but the rebound laid in the crease and center Brett Sterling pounced on the puck and poked it over the goal line.

But that tie was broken early.... thanks to a penalty in which there should have been two penalties for both teams as there were four involved but the refs put two wolves and one checker in the penalty box. So with this uncalled power play the Checkers gained control of the game again.  They went up 2-1 when at 18 minutes and 1 second forward Zach Boychuk redirected defensman Bobby Sanguinettis shot from the far point over the shoulder of Climie.

Then not even one minute later at 18 minutes and 58 seconds, Forward Brett Sutter gave the Checkers a 3-1 lead when his shot from the near circle hit off the skates of a Wolves defender and past Climie. Assists to Samson and Krueger.

Charlotte closed out scoring at 5 minutes and 27 seconds of the third period on a three on two rush and defenseman Justin Faulk flung a shot to the slot where center Riley Nash redirected a shot past Climie.

The Wolves and Checkers play again on Tuesday in Charlotte.
