Despite a late push in the third period, the Peoria Rivermen couldn’t find a way to beat Milwaukee Admirals netminder Magnus Hellberg Wednesday night as the club fell 2-0.

Brad Winchester struck first for the Admirals in the first period, as he took an Austin Watson pass and beat Rivermen netminder Mike McKenna for the 1-0 lead.

In the second, defencemen Mattias Ekholm increased the Admirals lead to two goals as he fired the puck past McKenna for a 2-0 lead.

The Rivermen come out firing on all cylinders in the third and continued to do so as the club outshot the Admirals 12-4 in the final frame. Unfortunately, neither player could solve Hellberg as he shut the door for the 2-0 victory. McKenna turned aside 32 shots for the Rivermen in a losing cause.

The Milwaukee Admirals host the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday night. Meanwhile, the Peoria Rivermen travel to Rockford to take on the IceHogs at 7:05 Central Time.
