Scoring started early as Rockford's left wing Jeremy Morin and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck each scored goals in the first seven minutes of play.
Then the Wolves started to find some life, and they found it on the power play. Jaskin started the scoring for Chicago on the power play at 10 minutes and 46 seconds as he picked the puck up in the corner, cut inside towards the net, and rifled a shot past Rockfords goalie Kent Simpson. Assists to Regner and Aucoin
Chicago's right wing Mark Mancari tied the game at 2 at 16 minutes and 26 seconds of the first. In a crowded crease, Mancari wrangled a rebound and scored on a low shot. Assists to Regner and Cundari.
The Wolves then scored again at 3 minutes and 46 seconds when right wing Shane Harper streaked into the offensive zone and muscled to the net while holding off a Rockford defender, sending a shot on goal that was deflected in. Assist to Shattock. *Authors note- Harper is my favorite Wolves player and I am so proud he scored...he doesn't score a lot but he finally did!*
The Wolves lead was ended when the Ice Hogs had just ended a power play, and at 2 minutes of the third period, Rockford's defenseman Adam Clendenning lasered a pass through the legs of a Wolves defender to set up center Brandon Pirri for the one-timer and the score was tied at 3.
With 10 minutes and 19 seconds left in the third, Rockfords center Mark Mcneill forced a turnover in the Wolves zone and picked up his own rebound to score five hole and bring the score to 4-3 Icehogs. Assists to Skinner and Clendenning.
The Wolves rallied once again, this time with goalie Jake Allen pulled for the extra attacker, to tie the score and get to overtime. Mancari corralled the puck and roofed a puck to the doorstep to Aucoin, who roofed it and the game went into overtime.
No scoring in the overtime so the game went to a shootout.
Chicago's goalie Jake Allen denied five Rockford shooters, surrendering goals only to Pirri, center Joakim Nordstrom, and left wing Terry Broadhurst.
Rockford's goalie Kent Simpson denied four Wolves goalies, surrendering goals to Ty Rattie, Sebastian Wannstrom, Mark Mancari and Alexandre Bolduc who had the game winner for the Wolves.
Wolves win 5-4.
