Just one night after dropping a crazy game by a score of 8-7 on Friday, the St. John’s IceCaps tightened up defensively to down the Springfield Falcons 3-1.

John Albert would strike first for the IceCaps, as his goal just under 5-minutes into the game put St. John’s ahead 1-0 after 20 minutes. The IceCaps led in shots 14-4 after the first period.

The IceCaps would add to their lead as Jerome Samson scored his second goal in as many nights – his 23rd of the season to put St. John’s ahead 2-0. Albert would then tally his second of the night and 23rd of the season just 5-minutes later to make it 3-0 IceCaps after 40 minutes of play.

The Falcons however would break the IceCaps shutout bid with just under 5-minutes to play in the game as Patrick McNeill tallied his 10th of the season to make it a 3-1 final.

Tyler Beskorowany stopped 23 of 24 shots to pick up the victory for St. John’s, meanwhile Anton Forsberg stopped 28 of 31 shots in a losing cause for Springfield.

The IceCaps will welcome the Hamilton Bulldogs to town Tuesday night in a matchup between the two clubs.

Meanwhile, the Falcons return home where they will host the Portland Pirates on Friday.
